How to Prevent Carpet Indents

How to Prevent Carpet Indents

Every once in a while, the urge strikes, and we may want to freshen up a room by rearranging the furniture. But just after you and your friend lift the couch, you notice it. The deep indentations left behind from where the couch just was. Now, this is not an uncommon sight, but you may still wonder, is there any way to prevent dents in your carpet from occurring?

Carpet Stretch and Rescue understands how frustrating those unwanted grooves can be. That is why we want to share with you just a few ways that you may be able to prevent them from showing up in the first place.

Furniture Coasters

This option is relatively inexpensive and quick. You can find furniture coasters on Amazon or at your local home improvement store. Simply lift each leg of the furniture and slide the disc underneath. These work to help displace the weight of the furniture. In addition to smooth ones, there are also furniture coasters that have spikes on the bottom. These further aid in keeping dents at bay, along with keeping your furniture in place. If you happen to have a bit of spare carpet handy, you can make your own version by cutting a few squares off for the legs of your furniture.

Move Your Furniture Monthly

You do not have to completely rearrange your furniture every month, (unless you want to!) but scooting your heavier items of furniture over about an inch every so often will help indents from sticking around. Just sliding your furniture over enough so that it is no longer sitting in the current carpet pocket, will be sure to keep your carpet fresh and plush.

Steam Clean

Along with regularly vacuuming under your furniture, getting your carpets steam cleaned every once in a while, will also help bring your carpet back from the dent, I mean dead. The steam will help to iron out any imprints that have shown up. Not to mention the fact that your carpets will be fresh and clean. So, really a win-win.

These are just a few ways you can prevent your carpet from becoming run down by your furniture. If you have found that you already have existing carpet notches, there are several ways you can attempt to tease them back to normal. When that does not work, however, be sure to give us a call at Carpet Stretch and Rescue. We can take a small remnant of carpet and replace the area with damaged carpet. This can be especially beneficial if you are thinking of selling your home. Call us today!
