We see all sorts of issues when we come in to help ourneighbors. A common issue that mars the look of many carpets are indentations made from furniture. We can absolutely fix this problem for you, but we also want to provide you with a few tips on how to avoid it from happening in the first place.
One of the best ways you can avoid carpet indentations is to rotate your furniture annually. Just moving each piece an inch or two should do the trick. Or you can take the opportunity to give the room a fresh new look by completely rearranging everything. Either way, doing so will greatly increase the lifespan of your carpet.
Another great way to avoid carpet dents is by using furniture coasters. These are small plastic discs that you can place underneath the legs of chairs, tables, dressers, and basically anything else. They help prevent heavy furniture from making lasting impressions by distributing the weight on your carpet more evenly, so your carpet piles do not become crushed. Furniture coasters are cheap and easy to get your hands on.
In a similar vein to coasters are caster caps. Caster caps are little rubber discs that you place under your furniture's feet that have numerous spikes on the opposing side. The smooth surface holds your furniture in place while the spikes rest in your carpet. Similarly, to furniture coasters, these work by redistributing the weight of the furniture against the carpet. When you go to rotate your furniture, you will likely notice marks from where the caps rested but vacuuming over the area should comb the carpet back to normal.
By incorporating a few thoughtful steps into your carpet care you can prolong its life as long as possible. But even if pesky dents do show up and you cannot comb them out, Carpet Stretch and Rescue can help you by replacing the one damaged area with a fresh piece of carpet. Before you think about replacing your entire carpet, give us a call first!
