Ways to Keep Your Carpet Well Maintained

Carpet Stretch and Rescue is happy to be available for our neighbors when their carpet becomes damaged, stained, and unsightly. Although we are happy to provide these services, we also want to help you keep your carpet well maintained so that you need our services less. Here are some simple and easy things that you can do in your daily life to keep your carpets well maintained.

Vacuum Regularly

Vacuuming is surely something you already do, but we would be remiss if we did not mention the benefits of vacuuming for your carpet. Pets carry debris through the house, food crumbs naturally make their way onto the floor on occasion, and we all expend detritus on a regular basis. All these components can get worked into the fibers of your carpet and become deeply embedded with them as they get driven down with foot traffic. These things can cause unsightly stains and can leave you feeling like your house is never really cleaned. Vacuuming a few times a week will ensure that those elements are removed at the surface and not given an opportunity to live in your carpet pile. Plus, vacuuming regularly will keep carpets fluffed and soft.

Don’t Hesitate to Remove Spills

Spills are bound to happen. Because they are virtually unavoidable, it is important to know how to address them. The most important thing you need to know when a spill has occurred on your carpet is that time is of the essence. The longer a spill is allowed to sit, the more it will seep into the depths of your carpet fibers. The deeper the stain goes, the harder it is to fully remove it. And if it is left to a point where it is nearly impossible to remove, then that’s when you must call us in to fix it. Prevent that from being the case by cleaning up spills as soon as possible and remember to blot the liquid away. Never rub it in.

Take Your Shoes Off

If your home is not already a leave-your-shoes-at-the-door household, it may be time to become one. As you go about your daily activities outside the home, your shoes are a barrier between you and the streets and floors. So naturally, your shoes pick up a lot of filthy things in the process. Don’t track that grime into your clean home by walking inside with your shoes on.

Doing these simple things will make sure that your carpets remain in good condition for many years. But if your carpet needs repair down the line, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
